Saskatchewan History

YouTube Preview ImageOn September 26, 2008, the Rural History and Culture Association (RHCA) in partnership with the Watrous Arts Council presented a once-in-a-lifetime collection of Saskatchewan talent, all on one night and in one venue. The Saskatchewan Storytellers Showcase Concert! was staged at historic Danceland at Little Manitou and featured some of the best Country, Gospel and popular musicians in Saskatchewan!

An audience of over 160 people were treated to intimate acoustic performances featuring five awesome acts with ten extraordinary musicians. Instruments as varied as the Mandolin and the Upright Bass, told stories that reflected the soul of Saskatchewan. Whether it was Tommy-John Ehman’s tributes to farm families, Canada’s soldiers and veterans; Jodi Faith’s spiritual journey on the Red Coat Trail; Ragtime Don and the Ghost Town Trio’s colourful re-creation of a turn-of-the century threshing crew; Karen Blackwell Jones’ heartfelt reminiscences; or Sisters’ upbeat “Choices,” which brought the concert to a close; each performer and each song reflected part of the Saskatchewan story.
