Pioneering the Future: Storytelling About Saskatchewan since the Great Depression is a book written by historian Mike Fedyk and scheduled for released in the Winter of 2010.  The book will examine both grassroots and institutional influences on Saskatchewan collective memory and how this collective memory has impacted Saskatchewan identity. Examinations of Saskatchewan’s anniversary celebrations in 1955, 65, 80 and 2005 as well as the development of local histories and museums will provide background on grassroots ideas about Saskatchewan.  Click here for more information.

A Long Trail A Winding

As part of the Celebrate the NWMP Trail project a book is being published that will tell stories about the NWMP Trail.  This will include a never before published article by Everett Baker about the marking of the NWMP Trail in the 1950s and 60s as well as contributions from Garrett Wilson, Ken Mitchell, Thelma Poirier and others.   The articles will look at the history of the Trail between 1875 and 1912 as well as the history of how and why Everett Baker marked the Trail.  Featuring many historical pictures, the book also includes never before published colour photographs by Baker.   Click here for more information.
