“Never Doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.  Indeed it is the only thing that ever has.”

Margaret Mead

This is a motivational presentation about the power of individuals to make a better world.  RHCA President Mike Fedyk calls on his audiences to not accept the role of spectators in life but make their lives historic!  Drawing on examples from history, Mike demonstrates that everyone  can make the choice to make a difference in the world and making that choice is what gives everyone the chance to be historic. The presentation includes the following aspects:

Spectators, Participants and Leaders

When people volunteer, vote and take part in building and supporting cultures and communities they are participants and when they raise questions and try to move others in positive directions they are leaders.   When individuals simply purchase entertainment and services that they had no part in producing, and in which there only role is as consumers, they are spectators.   While in the last 50 years, we have seen an ever increasing number of spectators and fewer people voting, volunteering and getting involved in cultures and communities, there are reasons to believe this trend will soon reverse itself.  Younger people, empowered by the internet, are showing a strong desire to participate and lead.

Be the Hero of Your Own Story!

Mass media, large corporations and bureaucracies have built a culture of cynical passivity, which discourages individuals from believing that their contributions can make a better world.  History, however, shows this culture of indifference to be based on lies.  Ordinary people have chosen to make a difference throughout history and their example can inspire us to become the heroes of our own stories.

This presentation is offered as a one-hour motivational speech. Aside from covering Mike’s travel, accommodations and meal expenses, the presentation is free to any Saskatchewan grassroots organization.  Contact the RHCA to book this presentation today.
