The following are projects that were developed by RHCA members for other organizations:

The Saskatchewan Centennial History Conference
Held in Regina in October 2002, the Saskatchewan Centennial History Conference was held under the auspices of the Discover Saskatchewan project at the University of Regina and was funded by the Saskatchewan History and Folklore Society. The conference was one the earliest efforts to raise the profile of Saskatchewan history in preparation for the 2005 Centennial. Over 100 people attended the conference, which featured keynote addresses from Dr. Bill Brennan on Saskatchewan grain elevators and Dr. Bill Waiser on the Regina Riot. The conference received coverage on the CTV news and the Leader Post highlighted the conference with two major articles.

Heritage Exhibits (during Celebrate Canada Centennial Jam)
To commemorate the 2005 Saskatchewan Centennial, the Celebrate Canada Committee for Saskatchewan organized the Celebrate Canada Centennial Jam on July 1, 2005, in Regina’s Wascana Centre. An element of the festivities was a series of Heritage Exhibits each of which featured an actor portraying a historical figure on a small stage with a backdrop highlighting pictures from the historical figure’s era. Historical figures portrayed included John Diefenbaker, Tommy Douglas, Big Bear, Gabriel Dumont, Violet McNaughton and Georgina Binnie-Clark. For more information, click here.

Mossbank Centennial DVD, Slide-show and Website
In cooperation with Mossbank’s Economic Development Office, a special motivational slide-show was developed for the town’s 2005 homecoming. A homecoming DVD was also produced and shown on television as part of SCN’s program focusing on local Centennial celebrations. The town of Mossbank website, a Self-Guided Walking Tour and an Douglas/Thatcher Debate Interpretative Sign were also developed in cooperation with the Mossbank Economic Development Office.

Year of the Veteran Commemorations (for Celebrate Canada Committee)
Besides being Saskatchewan’s Centennial, 2005 was also the Year of the Veteran. Through funding provided by Canadian Heritage, the Celebrate Canada Committee for Saskatchewan provided small grants to communities and groups that organized activities that would bring veterans and young people together during the annual National Period of Celebration of June to July 1 in 2005. Thirteen groups participated by organizing events such as Veterans’ Corners at Canada Day Celebrations, where children met veterans and designed thank you cards for them. Other activities included teas for veterans, tribute lunchs, parades, presentations of plaques and the dedication of a peace garden. Pictures of these events and artwork from children produced as part of Veterans’ Corners were used to create a calender that was distributed to Saskatchewan veterans.
